How To Start Vanlife pt.1
Updated: Dec 6, 2022
I’m often asked how to start vanlife and that’s an overwhelming question to answer because I don’t know what your starting point is. Everyone has a different starting point…

How much money do you have saved?
How flexible is your job (are you working remote already)?
Do you have kids?
Do you have pets?
Do you already have a vehicle?
As you can see it’s hard to answer this question of how to start vanlife because we are all in different places in life.
However, I have come up with 4 tips to help you get started to prepping yourself that can apply to anyone. And the first tip is to start practicing being alone in public spaces. I remember the days when I didn’t even want to go shopping alone, now I don’t want anyone to go shopping with me!

You can start small with visiting a coffee shop by yourself. Take a book to distract your mind from being paranoid about people noticing you alone. Which they most likely aren’t. Work your way up to dinner by yourself, I’ve found sitting at the bar makes it a bit easier. Gradually work your way to a weekend adventure alone. Find a nearby town or camping experience to practice a solo trip.
And just remember… being alone and being lonely are two different things. Self love takes practice. You got this.
